There is no upgrade path to an MCDBA on SQL Server 2008 certification, so we recommend that you change your focus to an MCTS on SQL Server 2008 certification or a SQL Server-related MCITP certification

If you only need to complete a few exams to earn the MCDBA credential, we recommend that you complete the requirements. The MCDBA credential does not expire.
If you have just begun the MCDBA track, consider changing your focus to a certification that is related to SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008.
